Bitcoin (BTC-USD) achieved an all-time high on Tuesday before experiencing a pullback as some investors opted to secure their gains.

Amid renewed excitement surrounding the world's largest cryptocurrency, its price surged to $68,869, surpassing the previous $68,789 set on Nov. 10, 2021. However, within a few hours, it swiftly dropped below the $60,000 level.

This new peak marked a notable resurgence for Bitcoin, rebounding from a 2022 crash that led to substantial losses for investors and the downfall of prominent industry players, including cryptocurrency exchange FTX and its founder Sam Bankman-Fried.

The abrupt retreat from Tuesday's high was a stark reminder of the persisting volatility associated with this digital asset. At one point, it experienced an 11% decline, reminiscent of the tumultuous events witnessed in 2022.

Throughout the current year, Bitcoin has been riding a wave of enthusiasm, ignited by a series of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that commenced trading in January. These funds provided everyday investors with broad access to the digital asset, fueling expectations of a potentially record-breaking year.
